Chris Darlington, president of the National Association for Special Educational Needs, said he was concerned about how SEN provision would be affected by the proposals, announced as part of the Department for Education and Skills's five-year strategy for schools (Analysis, 14-20 July).
"There is a danger some of that money could be used for areas other than SEN," he said. "We already know that sometimes money designated for SEN does not go where it should.
"There are incredible pressures on schools in terms of results and obviously the group of youngsters we are talking about are mostly not going to deliver those results."
