Ministers have granted 9.8m to Harrow Council to establish thesingle faith school.
The decision follows years of campaigning by a Hindu charity group.
Navin Shah, leader of Harrow Council, said: "Harrow will become the homefor the first state-funded faith school in the country. This is onlyright as Harrow has the largest percentage of Hindus in thecountry."
The school will become the twelfth faith school in the London borough.
