The commission's Draft Public Benefit Guidance sets out ways in whichprivate and state schools could work together. Jonathan Shephard,general secretary of the Independent Schools Council, said he supportedthe general principles in the guidance.
State schools in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham already havepartnerships with two local independent schools.
Conservative councillor Antony Lillis, the borough's cabinet member forchildren's services, said: "This programme stretches able pupils andgives extra support to those who need it."
