Education News: Peer education - Teachers complete mentoringcourse

Secondary school teachers in Sheffield have given up their spare time to learn how to train young people to become peer mentors.

So far six teachers have completed the course, which focuses on aspectsof sexual health, from understanding what to do in a dilemma toresisting the pressure to have sex too early.

"Peer education is great for giving young people access to informationthey want about relationships and sexual health," said Liz Murray,project co-ordinator at the Sheffield Centre for HIV and Sexual Health.
