Education News: Nutrition - Free milk returns for Glasgow kids

Glasgow City Council is reintroducing free milk for all primary school pupils in a bid to tackle health problems among the city's children.

From April, all the city's 41,000 primary school pupils will receive free milk. Pupils who buy a meal or snack at lunch through their school's Pick 'n' Mix initiative are already entitled to free milk.

The council has also provided free breakfast for every primary pupil every school morning since last year.

And its Refresh programme, launched last year too, provides all pupils in SEN, primary and secondary schools with mains-fed filtered and chilled water.

The council hasn't ruled out extending the free milk provision to secondary school pupils.
