The Government has asked the Association of Muslim Schools toinvestigate how many of the UK's 120 private Muslim schools would beinterested in getting state-funding. It is believed that Prime MinisterTony Blair is backing the plan as part of a drive to break down barriersbetween different faiths.
At a recent press conference the Prime Minister said: "We are actuallylooking to make sure that faith schools are very much incorporated intothe mainstream and that should apply to all categories of faith school."
