The schools watchdog will modify an ongoing survey of schools' andpupils' views of the letters, which are written in pupil-friendlylanguage.
An Ofsted spokeswoman insisted three-quarters of heads backed theinitiative, but added: "In recent days some head teachers have expressedconcerns. Ofsted will speak to head teachers about the letters as partof the research for this study, and consider how best to gather theviews of pupils at a future date."
Heads voiced their concerns at the National Association of HeadTeachers' conference last week. Jack Cornall, head of St Mary's BluecoatSchool in Shropshire, asked: "Why should an inspection team be allowedto give ammunition to pupils so they can taunt teachers?"
