Victoria Infants School in Cumbria has introduced the inspections in abid to improve its children's health. Teachers are understood to beconfiscating items such as sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks.
The inspections have angered pupils' parents who have accused the schoolof violating their children's rights.
Earlier this month, the School Meals Review Panel advocated minimumnutritional standards for school meals and banning junk food fromvending machines.
However, the panel did not propose banning junk food from packedlunches.
