Education News - 14-19 Learning - Parents support schools campus

Ambitious plans for a schools campus system in Woking got the green light from council officials and local parents last week.

The Campus Woking idea encourages collaboration between schools,colleges and local businesses. By allowing pupils to attend institutionsacross the town, pupils would have a greater choice of subjects andwider vocational opportunities.

A key objective of the proposal is to provide a wider range ofvocational subjects that meet the needs of employers. The results of athree-month consultation period found parents and stakeholders supportthe aims of the project.

Conservative councillor Andrew Crisp, Surrey County Council's leadmember for children, said: "I am encouraged that the community appearsto have bought into the idea."
