Indeed, the interests of children and young people are increasingly seen in policy and practice, nationally and locally, as an integrated whole. The advent of children's services departments and multi-disciplinary teams over the past few years have thrown up a fresh set of challenges for the youth sector.
Now is the time to bite the bullet and reflect that bigger picture. That is why Young People Now is merging with sister title Children Now from 5 September to create the new weekly Children & Young People Now (see p3). The new, expanded title will include news, views, analysis, features and a workplace resource section. Dedicated news sections will run each week for those working in social care, early years, education and health as well as, of course, youth work and youth justice. Many of you will already be working with professionals from those other specialisms. The new magazine will carry the latest insights into joint working while continuing to recognise the individual skills of practitioners working withyoung people.
