He spoke of his aim to discuss with parents and young people "how tostrengthen family life, address child poverty and inequality and whattogether we can do about the pressures on children that risk erodingchildhood, undermine discipline and stifle the aspiration that is thekey to our future." He also talked about the need for a "new drive" tofocus on children's individual talents and aspirations in schools - inother words, the personalised learning that is already a key part of theDepartment for Education and Skills' agenda - and the idea of "youthbudgets with young people making their own choices" - again, already inprogress with the Youth Opportunity Fund.
