With extra money for children's services and increases in both childbenefit and the child element of child tax credit, there's certainlyevidence that many children will gain from his Budget.
Extra funding for children's services is certainly welcome. It will helpensure every English school becomes a full-service extended school andwill fund extra English and maths classes for children who are fallingbehind academically.
The increase in child benefit is also welcome, as is the decision toextend it to mums-to-be. But the extra money won't reach parents'pockets until 2009.
The increase in the child element of the child tax credit is anotherpiece of good news. And the continuation of the In-Work Credit for loneparents is also a plus.
