1 min read
The Government has said the 250m Transformation Fund to improve the quality of early years care will be spent on the whole workforce, not just graduates.

Children's minister Beverley Hughes revealed how the money is to beallocated earlier this week as her department published its response tothe consultation on the Children's Workforce Strategy.

It had been widely anticipated that the fund would be used to attractmore graduates into the profession but the Government has earmarked lessthan a third of the total fund for this purpose.

During the next two years 78m will be shared out among privateand voluntary childcare settings that employ graduates with subsidies of8,000 available for those that attract new staff with fulldegrees.

The Government will also spend 52m training thousands of existingearly years professionals with the aim of having a graduate leader inevery full daycare setting by 2015.
