Disability: Disability strategy praised by charities

The Prime Minister's Strategy Unit document, Improving the Life Chances of Disabled People, which contains the proposal, will also allow disabled young people to continue to benefit from Child Trust Funds and Family Funds until they reach 25.

The strategy proposes creating an Office for Disability Issues to oversee the reforms, which the Government hopes will be fully in place in 20 years' time.

Children and young people's charities welcomed the proposals, but Barnardo's criticised the long timescale of the delivery, saying that another generation of disabled young people will grow up with the same inequalities.
