Decade-old dance project to close

A Christian dance project that has operated in the North East for 10 years has announced it will close in May.

Dependance, a rap, dance and theatre company run by Youth for Christ North East, has worked with young people in the area through churches, youth groups and schools.

Youth for Christ North East said the end of the company would leave a "huge gap", but it was time for the organisation to move on to a "new phase".

The group, which has released three CDs during the last decade, has visited around 35 schools in the region.

John Hawksworth, centre director for Youth For Christ North East, said: "I know from personal experience as a youth pastor the lasting legacy that Dependance will have left."
