DCSF set to 'shout about' centres

1 min read Early Years
The government is gearing up to launch a campaign to raise awareness of children's centres among parents.

It will start during Sure Start Children's Centre Week, which runs from 14 to 18 September.

The aim is to support the work local centres do to encourage parents to take up services.

A spokeswoman for the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) said: "We need to shout about the programmes that these centres run. Parents think they are brilliant but many don't know the extent of their services."

The campaign will have three strands. National-level activity will include articles in consumer magazines. At a regional level there will be local radio and press advertising. Locally, the DCSF will work with a small number of children's centres to see which communication approaches have a real impact on take-up.
