
Children in nursery classes should be taught about sex to help stop them being molested, MPs on the Women and Equalities Committee have been told. The Mirror reports Dr Fiona Vera-Gray, a Durham University law professor, said sexual abuse could be happening within the family unit and “we need to start talking to the kids when they’re very young”.?
More than 179,000 teeth were removed from children aged under 10 in dental practices across England in 2014/15, figures have shown. ITV News reports the data from the British Dental Association, is on top of the thousands of young children who have had decayed teeth removed in England’s hospitals.?
A total of 989 knife possession offences formally dealt with by the criminal justice system between January and March this year involved juvenile offenders. ?The government data shows 13 per cent of those juvenile offenders received a sentence of immediate custody, compared to eight per cent in 2008. Scientists, clinicians and academics in Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) have urged Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt to extend the national HPV vaccination programme to include all adolescent boys. According to HPV Action, the experts believe vaccinating boys not only makes sense on a public health level but there is also significant economic evidence to indicate that vaccinating both girls and boys will be cost-effective.?
