The Guardian reports that in the lead-up to the announcement of her appointment, Child took the opportunity to criticise the pressure on parents to oversee all of their children's time.

The BBC reports that Jayne Smith is leaving Foula Primary, in Shetland, after three-and-a-half years in the post. The job is being advertised with a salary of £49,133 and rented three-bedroom accommodation is available.
Three prominent Benedictine boarding schools - Ampleforth, Downside and Worth - should be examined as a combined case study for the UK child sex abuse investigation into the Catholic church, a preliminary hearing has been told. The Guardian reports that a lawyer in charge of the Catholic church strand of the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse said the work of the archdiocese of Birmingham and its schools should also feature as a complementary case study.
