Prime Minister David Cameron urges people to think of the "hopes and dreams" of future generations ahead of the EU Referendum; technology companies are labelled "insidious" by a leading children campaigner; and London Mayor Sadiq Khan voices his support for a charity sleep-out, all in the news today.

Prime Minister David Cameron has urged people to think of the "hopes and dreams" of future generations in a direct appeal to them to vote to stay in the European Union. The BBC reports he said he would not recommend a Remain vote if he did not feel it would make the UK safer and more prosperous. ?


Technology companies have been labelled as "insidious" by a leading children's rights campaigner for putting freedom of expression above the need to protect young people from abuse online. The Guardian reports Beeban Kidron, a film-maker and member of the House of Lords, said it was scandalous that the rights of children, enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, were not protected online. Lady Kidron comments came during a How Safe Are Our Children? conference organised by the NSPCC.?


The mayor of London Sadiq Khan has voiced his support for a charity sleep-out at Lord's Cricket Ground that will raise money for three homelessness charities. The CEO Sleepout London 2016 will take place on 31 October at the world-famous cricket ground and aim to raise funds for Depaul UK, the Cardinal Hume Centre and YMCA North London.?


A new service helping children and young people suffering from eating disorders is being launched across west and northwest London. Get West London reports the programme will allow those that are worried and think they need help to refer themselves, speeding up the process of getting help and support. It is a result of an alliance between North West London Collaboration of Clinical Commissioning Groups and Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust and West London Mental Health Trust.?
