
Former deputy children's commissioner for England Sue Berelowitz didn't speak out over her concerns she had about Kid's Company because she was intimidated by the powerful friends of the charity’s founder. The Times reports that Berelowitz, who was in her post from 2008 until earlier this year, said she visited the children’s organisation three times and became concerned that money was being wasted and far fewer young people were being helped than had been claimed.
Wiltshire's NHS children's services are to be privatised in a £64m deal. The Western Daily Press reports that Virgin Care will take over provision. But leaders representing the staff being transferred said they had real fears the move would mean a worse service for more money.
Two children have been found stabbed to death in Bradford. The BBC reports that
paramedics discovered two girls, aged three and one, with stab injuries after being called to an address in the town. Both received treatment at the scene but were pronounced dead a short time later. A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by West Yorkshire Police.
South Wales Police has issued a warning to parents after 42 children were found in Swansea city centre on a single day when they should have been in school. The South Wales Evening Post reports that on Monday (16 November), 53 children of school age were found out of the classroom in city centre with a parent, with only 11 able to give a good excuse as to why they were there.
A campaign has been launched to improve dental hygiene among children in Oldham. The Manchester Evening News reports that the town's under-fives were ranked second worst in the country for tooth decay with figures from Public Health England showing three in 10 children in the town have obvious signs of it. The Big Brush campaign launched this week – encouraging good dental habits among children in the town.
