
A record number of care applications were made last month, statistics have shown. Figures published by Cafcass show a total of 1,104 care applications were received in June 2015, the highest monthly figure recorded in the last seven years. It represents a 3.6 per cent increase on the previous high of 1,066 recorded in March this year.

Justice Lowell Goddard, the senior New Zealand judge leading the historic child abuse inquiry has a pay package worth £500,000-a-year plus 10 return flights to her native country. Bolton’s poorest children are to receive free lunch every day during the summer holidays. This is Lancashire reports Charity Urban Outreach will aim to help around 1,000 children of families who struggle to make ends meet during the school holidays and is expecting to give an estimated 30,000 meals out over the six-week period.
One million children in the UK have not visited a dentist by the time they are eight years old. The Telegraph reports that a poll of 2,000 families found that one in seven children had not had a check-up by the age of eight.
