
A 59-year-old man has been arrested following a rooftop protest at the home of children's minister Edward Timpson. The Nantwich News reports that a small number of people, believed to be protesting against forced adoption, gathered at his constituency address on Saturday at 9am, and two climbed on to the roof. One later came down but the other remained on the roof for more than 50 hours.
A campaign to encourage conversation about mental health among children and young people has been launched. The BBC reports that Time to Change Wales, which started in 2012 to raise mental health awareness among adults, will run a young people's programme. It will initially work with pupils, teachers and parents at nine schools, using Big Lottery funding.
A young woman from Derby is putting on a prom just for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teenagers so they can dance and enjoy themselves without fear of being bullied. The Derby Telegraph reports that the 15-year-old hopes to attract hundreds of children to the event in spring next year and is trying to raise £600 to put it on.
Protests have been staged against planned cuts to children's centres in Medway. Kentonline reports that the council's preferred option is to close to create four larger "super hubs" rather than the current 19 children's centres. Another option is to shut them all.
A teenage boy has been arrested after Salisbury schoolchildren took the prescription drug Xanax. The Salisbury Journal reports that a 15-year-old local boy was arrested on suspicion of supplying class C drugs. A total of 20 youngsters aged 15 and 16 needed medical treatment over the past week after taking the drug.
