Peter Watt, director of the NSPCC’s helpline said 15 per cent of the inquiries the charity receives come from adults abused as children, but this number had risen following the Jimmy Savile scandal. “If their abusive history is having an impact on the care they are giving their children the NSPCC can provide appropriate assistance,” said Watt. Callers without childcare responsibilities are being signposted to NAPAC, which has been able to extend its services round the clock with with the NSPCC’s support.
