Cyber-bullying: Ministers' working party is launched

The Government has laun- ched a working party to tackle the problem of cyber-bullying in schools.

Last week, representatives from teachers' unions, mobile phonecompanies, web sites and children's charities met schools minister JimKnight to look at ways to limit the misuse of the internet and mobilephones by young people.

Chris Keates, NASUWT's general secretary, said: "Regrettably, ourevidence shows some schools are still not taking these issuesseriously."

A Department for Education and Skills spokeswoman said new guidancewould be released shortly for schools on how to tackle cyber-bullyingand homophobic bullying to "nip these arising problem areas in the bud".
