The Advisory Board for Creative and Cultural Education will be jointly run by the Department for Education and Skills and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
Part of its remit will be to look at how the development of creative education in schools fits in with other youth policies.
The creation of the board is set out in the Government's response to a report, Nurturing Creativity in Young People, that was published in July. The report's author, Paul Roberts, director of strategy at the Improvement and Development Agency, will chair the board.
