The bus will offer advice and support in more hard-to-reach areas andwas the basis for North Warwickshire Borough Council's successful bid totake part in the government's child poverty innovation pilot.
The 20m pilot will see at least 10 local authorities developinnovative approaches to tackling child poverty between 2009-11.
Other ideas to get the go-ahead include a 20-strong team of trainedparents and carers in North and South Tyneside. They will offer adviceand encouragement to local people in poverty. Stronger partnershipsbetween housing providers and children's services are planned inCornwall. Westminster City Council will offer increased in-work supportto families in poverty, for instance by teaming up with housingproviders to waive the usual reduction in housing benefit when parentsstart to earn more.
