Cornwall sets out 2020 health vision

A new health strategy for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly aims to combat child poverty and reduce levels of obesity by 2020.

The 2020 Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, was launched on Monday (21 January). It has been published as a series of 13 cards, with each one focusing on a key public health challenge.

Other areas in the strategy include reducing infant deaths, sex, drugs and alcohol support, and better access to services.

Felicity Owen, director of public health for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust, Cornwall County Council and the Council of the Isles of Scilly, said: "This strategy will ensure we tackle problems like childhood poverty and obesity."
