
The protracted shadow cabinet reshuffle in January was meant to mark a significant shift to the left in Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's ministerial team. But Jenny Chapman, who replaced Pat Glass as shadow childcare minister in the reshuffle, appears to be at odds with a number of the Labour leadership's left-leaning principles.
The Darlington MP, who previously worked for arch-Blairite Alan Milburn when he held the same seat, supports the retention of a nuclear deterrent and recently voted in favour of military intervention in Syria. She also sounds wary when asked if the party intends to adopt Corbyn's leadership election pledge to introduce free universal childcare for all pre-school children.
