Aim: To prevent young people from committing crime by offering other opportunities
"We're all here because we're the bad ones," is the phrase most commonly heard from young people on the first day of the Community Star projects. But these young people have a habit of surprising themselves by the end of the nine-week course.
Harrow Council has just completed its second Community Star programme, designed to steer young people away from crime and bad behaviour.
In the latest project, a team of 15 Year 8 pupils renovated a local children's centre after receiving £2,000 from the council towards the initiative.
