Colleges have not been given enough details to promote early years course

Colleges have voiced frustration at the lack of information about a new qualification for early years workers, complaining that marketing the new course is impossible.

Richard Dorrance, chief executive of qualifications provider Cache, saidhe has been approached by colleges worried about the delay in receivingdetails of the new Level 3 diploma.

The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) is developing thequalification for early years, social care and learning developmentsupport services, to replace existing Level 3 qualifications coveringthese areas from September next year.

Despite assurances from the CWDC that details will be available by theend of next month, colleges are anxious for more information now so theycan market the courses accurately.

"Colleges need to know what is being offered by the end of Octoberbecause they start marketing courses for places in 2010 in earlyNovember," said Dorrance.
