ChildRIGHT Ask the Expert: Viewing a child's educational records

Education Legal
Can I make a request to see a child's educational records?

Requests for a child's educational records can be made by a parent or other person with parental responsibility in writing to the head teacher, stating that you are making a formal request for disclosure under the Education (Pupil Information) (England) Regulations 2005, the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Data Protection (Subject Access) (Fees and Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2000. The school should make the records available for inspection within 15 school days of receiving your letter.
