Noises from Johnson about play have so far been conspicuous by theirabsence.
The Mayor's director of policy, arts and culture, Munira Mirza, hosted aseminar on young people last month. Campaign group London Play attendedwith high hopes that details would finally emerge about how Johnsonplanned to invest in play. But, with the focus on sport and olderchildren, play experts were left disappointed. A source says: "There wasnothing on play. We are giving the Mayor the benefit of the doubt as itis early days but soon we will want to know how he plans to improve playfor the capital's children."
A spokeswoman for the Mayor says Johnson supports his predecessor'spolicy of ensuring all new housing developments allow space for playfacilities.
