Children's rights: Commissioner says hoodie ban is crazy

1 min read
Al Aynsley-Green, England's new children's commissioner, proudly put on his hoodie in front of hundreds of health professionals at the Adolescent Health conference in London last week.

He told reporters Siobahn Slowey, 16, and Chisom Edomobi, 12, from Children's Express that it was "crazy" to ban hoodies.

"It's a fantastic thing to wear," he said. "It's warm, and if it's cold you can put the hood up. I'm not ashamed to put mine on."

The adults loved it and so did the young journalists. "It was great to see him in his hood," said Chisom. "Some people think just because you wear a hood you're a bad person, but that's not true."

Siobahn agreed: "I liked how he put his hood on in front of all those people. I didn't expect him to do that. It was really good and proved the point it's not just kids, it's also adults who wear them."
