He told reporters Siobahn Slowey, 16, and Chisom Edomobi, 12, from Children's Express that it was "crazy" to ban hoodies.
"It's a fantastic thing to wear," he said. "It's warm, and if it's cold you can put the hood up. I'm not ashamed to put mine on."
The adults loved it and so did the young journalists. "It was great to see him in his hood," said Chisom. "Some people think just because you wear a hood you're a bad person, but that's not true."
Siobahn agreed: "I liked how he put his hood on in front of all those people. I didn't expect him to do that. It was really good and proved the point it's not just kids, it's also adults who wear them."
