Children's Commissioner: Plans for a regional network drawn up

1 min read
Plans are being drawn up for a new network of regional children's commissioners to assist Al Aynsley-Green in his role as children's commissioner for England.

The commissioner is considering the option as part of the drive to make his office more accessible to children across the country, Children Now can reveal.

An advisor to the commissioner said: "It's going to be very important that all children wherever they are know there's a children's commissioner and how to contact him. Al Aynsley-Green can't do that on his own so he needs help from people in children's services. And there also needs to be a network of assistant commissioners or regional commissioners and that is in hand."

Aynsley-Green's office confirmed that he was considering establishing regional commissioners but insisted that the plan was only at the initial stages.

A spokeswoman said: "The commissioner is considering how best to reach children and young people across the country. He is exploring the most effective ways of doing this, including the possibility of regional offices."
