Professor Al Aynsley-Green, who was given the job last week, told Young People Now: "There is going to be a youth green paper coming out soon, and it is a very important landmark. Out of all the client groups in the six ages of children, the most neglected are adolescents and young people."
He continued: "For example, there is only one physician in the whole of the UK who is trained to North American or Australian standards to be a specialist in the medical needs of adolescents. What does that say about the profile we are giving to the health of young people?"
