Children in care to form policy group

1 min read Social Care
Looked-after children are to get the chance to influence policy and the services they use through a newly formed group.

The Young Person's Group is being formed by the Alliance for Child-Centred Care, a coalition that includes organisations such as the National Centre for Excellence in Residential Child Care and the charity Voice.

The group will be made up of 25 young people, aged 13 to 18, who will meet four times a year. The hope is the project will become a long-term scheme, with new teenagers joining each year supported by former members, who will act as mentors.

John Kemmis, Voice's chief executive, said: "The idea is to select young people from different organisations to come together to comment on things that need to change for children in care and comment on national policy and help represent young people's views."
