The drop-in group, which is linked to Sure Start Weston-Super-Mare, was set up three months ago and has three core members.
The name Go Mango has been suggested and the group already plans to paint a mural for a local toy library and run a play session for all local childminders to celebrate National Childminding Week.
Kim Lane, childminding network co-ordinator for the North Somerset Sure Start area, said: "We have found the easiest way to encourage men into groups and into accessing services is to have an all-male environment. It is just a way of getting them to feel comfortable."
One member, Oliver Clark, who gave up working as an NHS data analyst to start childminding, said the group provided a forum for men to discuss the problems male childcarers face, including sexism. He believes it will help attract more male childminders.
