While more than 96 per cent of the 1,334 nurseries, childminders,pre-schools, out-of-hours clubs and creches surveyed by consultantsCommunications Management said they were happy to receive vouchers, manyalso highlighted problems with the scheme.
Most providers are dealing with a multitude of voucher schemes that havedifferent terms and conditions, resulting in administrative andfinancial burdens.
Nurseries can often find it difficult to identify which payment is forwhich child when it arrives in their bank account and some said payingvouchers in arrears, rather than in advance, causes problems.
Lynne Keeble, project manager for childcare vouchers at Accor Services,the voucher provider which commissioned the survey, said: "Childcareproviders are often treated as the 'poor relation' in the childcarecircle but we regard them as an important customer group."
