The Isle of Wight Council's museum education service has secured a £8,000 grant to help museums on the island work with early years providers to develop a series of activities.
Museums taking part include Newport Roman Villa, Carisbrooke Castle Museum, Dinosaur Isle, Brading Roman Villa and Cowes Maritime Museum. The project will help develop new activities involving joint work between early years professionals, museum professionals and children.
A spokesman for the council said: "We hope to provide activities that develop creative and critical thinking, family trails that encourage parents and children to communicate, adapt Museum Education Loans to be appropriate for the age group and develop outreach and museum sessions that make the most of our existing collections."
