The charity 4Children claimed children aged five to eight will lose outif ministers do not amend the consultation document that was publishedlast month.
"Children could be exposed to being in situations where the quality ofservices would not be checked," warned senior policy officer GraemeCook.
At present, the Government is proposing that only childcare provisionsrun by schools or on the school sites will be subject to inspections andregulations. But 4Children estimates that more than half of the UK'sindependently run 11,000 clubs will not be legally required to have aninspection and need only opt for a voluntary register instead.
