CHILD PROTECTION: The Met seeks out minority experts

The Metropolitan Police Force is seeking child protection specialists from London's Chinese, Kosovan and Albanian communities to join a new independent advisory group.

The group, chaired by social worker Marcia d'Costa, has been set up to help and advise police on improving understanding and knowledge of child protection questions among London's minority communities.

DI Dick Slade of Scotland Yard's child protection command said: "Community groups are often more aware than us of those avoiding child protection measures, and can think of better ways of protecting children."
