Lucy Akhtar, co-ordinator of the End Child Poverty Network Cymru pressure group at Children in Wales, said: "We're pleased with the commitment to eradicating child poverty but disappointed with the content.
"It's not clear whether some of the measures will be introduced or not and we would have liked to see more detail on timescales and more specific targets."
The pledge is part of a wide-ranging child poverty strategy that builds on recommendations made by the child poverty task group established last year. It sets out the long-term direction of the Assembly in tackling the problem.
Launching the document, minister for children Jane Hutt called for help from the UK government in realising the pledge.
