Child poverty: Report to UN restates plans

The Government last week renewed its commitment to eradicate child poverty by 2020 in a draft report on children's rights.

Comments on the draft are now being sought ahead of the final version,which will be submitted to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.The committee will examine the UK's progress on adhering to the UNConvention on the Rights of the Child later this year.

The final version is due to be sent on 15 July. The report details theGovernment's plans for the future of children in the UK.
