Children's rights: Report claims UN convention is met

The Government this week published its latest report to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, setting out how it meets requirements on children's rights.

Prepared through a series of events, the report is a culmination ofquestionnaires, focus groups and consultations carried out since2002.

The report details how the Government considers itself to meetrequirements of the convention and explains how the newly-formedDepartment for Children, Schools and Families will take the children'srights agenda forward.

However, critics such as Save the Children claim the Government isbreaching children's rights and not doing enough to eliminate childpoverty.
