Charity campaign targets wellbeing

Health
Children's charity NCH has launched a year-long campaign to improve the emotional wellbeing of children.

The Growing Strong campaign launched last week and calls on the government to review policy on children's emotional wellbeing and to back the recommendations in the charity's report Growing Up, Growing Together, Growing Strong.

Recommendations outlined in the report include creating targets to measure and improve emotional wellbeing rather than just reduce harmful behaviour and implementing steps to ensure the media portrays young people in positive ways.

Hugh Thornberry, director of children's services at NCH, said not enough was being done "in terms of preventative approaches and targeted services for most vulnerable children and young people".
