The alliance is being launched in Youth Week, which runs from 15 to 21 November. Charities in it include Action for Children, Barnardo's, Fairbridge, Catch 22 (formerly Rainer Crime Concern), The National Youth Agency, NSPCC, The Prince's Trust and YMCA.
The group will promote "the positive difference young people can and do make to society," according to Martina Milburn, chief executive of The Prince's Trust.
Martin Narey, chief executive of Barnardo's, said: "The public has become increasingly intolerant of young people. Together we need to restore belief in all children, especially those who are most vulnerable and on the edges of society."
Action for Children has been campaigning hard on this issue. Its chief executive Clare Tickell said: "By talking positively to, and about, young people, and helping to improve their confidence and self-esteem, we aim, through our work, to give them the tools they need to cope with life's problems and make the most of opportunities."
