Challenge to help teens get healthy

1 min read Health Youth Work
UK Youth is launching a 116,000 pound project to help teenagers get healthy.

The youth work organisation will start its Health and Wellbeing Challenge later this year using money from the Department of Health.

The goal of the project is to increase awareness and understanding of the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle among the 20,000 young people expected to take part.

The teenagers will face practical challenges to help understand what it means to be fit and healthy, work out the cost of a healthy diet and learn how to plan a simple exercise routine. The project will also work to enhance the young people's motivation and social skills.

UK Youth will develop resources for youth workers and other professionals working with young people. The challenge will build upon the structure of the Youth Achievement Awards, which is an established programme of accredited learning and links to key skills.
