The Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) poll of 31,338 adults aged 16 to 50 found teaching was a popular choice for people looking to switch careers in the upper age band.
Graham Holley, chief executive of the TDA, said this level of interest suggested more mature teachers could start entering the profession. "Having a mixed age group among the school workforce can only be a good thing," he said.
