Campaign targets parent smokers

Health
Parents who smoke around children at home or in their cars are the targets of a new anti-smoking push in Liverpool.

The SmokeFree Kids campaign is planning a major publicity drive to press home the damage adults who smoke around children and young people can do.

Frances Molloy, the campaign's co-ordinator, said the project will use a mix of publicity and community-level support to ram home the risks of smoking near children. "We want to get the message across that adults shouldn't smoke around children in enclosed spaces," she said.

The campaign will also help children who feel unable to tell adults not to smoke, Molloy added.
