
The One-to-One campaign is being run by Bliss with the support of the British Association of Perinatal Medicine and the Neonatal Nurses Association. It aims to drum up public support for the idea that babies should receive the same care when they are seriously ill as children and adults, who already receive one nurse to one patient care.
In 2001, the British Association for Perinatal Medicine set out clinical standards that said a minimum of one nurse should be given to each baby in intensive care.
But a recent Bliss report found these standards were not being met and that an extra 2,600 nurses are still needed to achieve this minimum standard.
